AWANA
is an international, Bible-centered youth ministry
providing local churches with weekly clubs and programs
for pre-schoolers through high schoolers. Our goal is to
reach boys and girls, and their families, with the
gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The
acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of Approved
Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2Timothy 2:15). Clubs in our
church are:
CUBBIES
is for pre-school boys and girls (age 3 before September
1) Cubbies is unique because it supports and maintains
parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing by
directly involving them in the teaching and learning
process. Cubbies use the fundamental Awana elements of
games and activities, Bible memorization, handbooks, and
awards.
SPARKS
is for K – 2nd grade. In Game Time, Sparkies
enjoy entertaining games played on the awana Game
Circle. During Green Meadow time, Sparkies gather for a
Bible Lesson, During Sparkle time, clubbers recite Bible
verses from memory, complete handbook sections, and earn
awards.
TRUTH
& TRAINING CLUBS are for 3rd – 5th
graders. Game Time is when fun, exciting, team-oriented
games are played on the awana Game circle. Council Time
is when clubbers get together for singing and Bible
teaching, and are challenged to serve God. Handbook Time
is when boys and girls meet in separate, small groups to
recite Bible verses from memory, interact with their
leaders, complete their handbook sections, and earn
awards.

We are going to have an
Awana Store this year. This is an alternate reward
system that allows clubbers to “buy” their own rewards
for winning.
The AWANA Store
will be opened once a month for each club. Cubbies &
Sparks will go on the second Wednesday night; Truth &
Training will go on the third Wednesday night.
We have had a
mother to volunteer to make a box to keep the bucks in
that the clubbers earn. This will help keep them from
losing or forgetting their bucks. This is not mandatory
so you will want to talk to your child about whether he
or she should keep their bucks at club.
Since the Awana
bucks program is used to promote responsibility by the
clubbers **LOST BUCKS WILL NOT BE REPLACED**.
Bucks are like cash; it must be carefully guarded to
prevent loss.
Proposed buck
distribution:
Bringing visitors 5
bucks
Club Attendance 1
buck
Bringing Handbook
2bucks
Wearing uniform 2 bucks
Wearing Gym Shoes 2 bucks
Bringing Bible 3
bucks
Additional points or
bucks may be added for special occasions, exceptional
behavior, team spirit, etc.
Each
clubber will complete an entrance booklet, which will
take two to four weeks. At that time, your child will
have achieved the first step in Awana! Therefore, they
will have earned the privilege to receive a handbook and
wear the Awana uniform.
Your
child will then be eligible to earn more awards as a
member of Awana. Since awards are worn only on the Awana
uniform, it becomes the basis of the Awana system. All
leaders and clubbers should be neatly attired in uniform
at every Awana event. Uniforms develop a sense of order
and unity that draws clubbers and leaders together.
Adopt-a-Club
provides financial support for clubs in countries where
parents do not have the money to send their children to
Awana. Adopt-a-Club funds provide handbooks, uniforms,
game equipment, and awards for clubbers in impoverished
countries. Clubbers who fill their Adopt-a-Club coin
card will receive an award to display on their uniform
at the end of the club year. To receive the uniform
Adopt-a-Club award, a clubber must give a total of $5.00
to the Adopt-a-Club program.
Sharing Awana
Sharing Awana is the regular
financial support of our Awana missionary. Awana
missionaries receive all of their income through the
regular financial support of Bible-believing churches
and individuals. There will be an opportunity to
participate this extension of God’s grace during the
club year. Clubbers who fill their Sharing Awana bank
will receive one Awana buck each time the bank is filled
and turned in. Each clubber or leader who contributes
$25.00 or more during the year will receive the Sharing
Awana Pin to display on his or her uniform at the end of
the club year.
