First Baptist Church Music Ministry exists to provide music for our worship services that is honoring to God. The music shared in worship is chosen for the appropriateness of the text and message presented in the song or anthem.
A variety of musical groups is a part of the music ministry with each group singing a variety of musical styles.
The Sanctuary Choir is the primary ensemble for our worship at 10:55am in the church sanctuary. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 in the choir room. This is open to anyone college and up who would like to be a part of the group.
· The Men’s and Women’s ensemble is the primary music group for our worship at 10:55 am. The Vocal team meets Wednesday evening at 6:45. If you are interested in participating in this group, contact the minister of music.
· The Children’s Choirs are divided into the following four age groups:
- Music Friends I – ages 4-5
- Music Friends II – grades K-1
- Music Makers – grades 2-3
- Young Musicians – grades 4-6
· Keenagers is our Sr. Adult Choir. They work and learn a music program in September and January, then go to area nursing homes to present this music program. They meet from September to May on Monday mornings at 9:00. All senior adults are welcome to join this ensemble.
- The Adult Handbells: This group participates periodically in the 10:55am worship service. It is open to all college age and above. Music reading skills are a plus, but not necessary.
- The Youth Handbells: This group participates periodically in the 10:55am worship service. It is open to all youth, grades 7-12. Music reading skills are a plus, but not necessary.
